A feminist, membership-based Sudanese organization advancing gender justice, sustainable peace and social change since 2007.
The Sudanese Organization for Research and Development (SORD) is a feminist, membership-based, non-profit Sudanese organization established in 2007. We work for inclusion, gender equality, feminist peacebuilding and sustainable livelihoods — with women's rights at the heart of everything we do and a strong commitment to strengthening women-led and community-based organizations.
Through a Humanitarian–Development–Peace Nexus approach, we bridge short-term crisis response and long-term development, integrating gender equality, women's leadership and GBV risk mitigation across all our interventions.
"We act as a facilitator and enabler — investing in local institutional capacity to advance gender justice, sustainable peace and social change in Sudan."
Our methodology brings together participatory action research, social exclusion analysis and collaborative partnerships with a broad spectrum of civil society organizations.

A vibrant, gender-focused and informed civil society in Sudan that is actively engaged in maintaining human rights, inclusion, peace and good governance.
SORD works with civil society organizations and other stakeholders so that men and women in Sudan are enabled to actively exercise their rights and responsibilities — through participatory action research, informed advocacy, civic education, providing alternatives and capacity building.
To be a significant contributor to citizens' active participation and sustained civil society engagement towards sustainable development, democracy and human rights — with gender justice at the core of the process.
